Allan Brothers’ Heritage Sliding Sash Windows combine traditional character with modern performance

Designed to complement listed buildings, conservation properties and other traditional homes, these windows combine authentic period detailing with the performance standards expected from a modern timber window

Drawing on more than 200 years of timber craftsmanship, Allan Brothers has carefully replicated the proportions and detailing associated with original Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian sash windows, while incorporating contemporary manufacturing techniques and materials.

The Heritage Sliding Sash Windows feature a slimline 14mm heritage double-glazing unit, 24mm solid timber through-bars and a 40mm mid-rail, helping to retain the elegant appearance of traditional sash windows while maximising the glazed area.

Externally glazed with a 9mm timber bead, the design has been developed to replicate the appearance of traditional putty glazing. Polished Chrome hardware and locking Fitch fasteners provide a traditional aesthetic alongside enhanced security.

Manufactured from finger-jointed engineered softwood sourced from sustainable timber supplies, each window is made to measure and finished to the customer’s requirements. The example shown is finished in RAL 9016 Traffic White and includes a discreetly finished white TV90 Vent.

Two operating mechanisms are available to suit different properties and installation requirements. The Cords and Weights system provides a refined interpretation of the traditional pulley mechanism commonly associated with Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian properties. Alternatively, the Spiral Balance system uses pre-tensioned springs concealed within the timber frame, providing smooth operation and making it particularly suitable for properties with smaller reveals or restricted spaces.

With a 160mm frame depth and carefully considered period proportions, Allan Brothers’ Heritage Sliding Sash Windows offer a balance between authentic architectural character and the demands of modern living.
