Comec Group expands CNC offerings with advanced Driver series, available from JJ Smith

Cementing its position as a leading manufacturer of bespoke CNC machining solutions, Comec Group now offers the Driver series of gantry-style, five-axis CNC machining centres, including the M50 and J models.

Like all of Comec’s CNC machines, the Driver series can be configured to meet customers’ specific production requirements. This is partly because, unlike many machine manufacturers, Comec designs and builds all parts and components in-house, which provides a high level of manufacturing flexibility.

As with all Comec machines, great attention is given to construction, which is key to ensuring repeatable machining accuracy, even for the most demanding applications. The machine base is made from 30mm-thick solid steel plates, which are electro-welded and precision-milled at Comec Group’s dedicated DLM manufacturing facility.

Various configurations 

The Driver can be equipped with twin-table operation, offering a choice of mechanical pneumatic clamps, vacuum clamps, or a combination of both. As standard, it comes fitted with a heavy-duty T4 machining head featuring four cross spindles, controlled in five axes. On request, this can be upgraded to include a dedicated point-to-point drilling head. The Driver M50 also has the option of twin vertical hopper-feed loading systems, while the Driver J can be configured with a horizontal belt-loading system with lateral automatic discharge of machined parts. Additionally, both models offer CNC positioning of the workpiece loading benches, enabling quick and precise setup times.

Optional upgrades & models 

Dedicated five-axis DDX machining software is included as standard, with optional upgrades for optimisation, simulation and anti-collision modules. The Driver series can produce a wide range of parts, including chair elements, garden product components, door frames, children’s play equipment and kitchen face frames, among others.

Other CNC machines in the Comec range include the three- and four-axis MD Classic and MD TOP models, as well as the Frontal CN through-feed double-sided machine.
