HOLZ-HER Panel Center N: A scalable route into CNC nesting with full UK support

For many UK joinery and furniture manufacturers, investing in CNC nesting is no longer simply a question of spindle power or drilling configuration. In today’s market, the wider ecosystem surrounding the machine – including installation, operator training, service response times and spare parts availability – plays an equally important role in ensuring long-term performance and reliability
With the launch of the Panel Center N 1228 and N 1631 in the UK, HOLZ-HER – part of the Weinig Group – has introduced a nesting platform aimed at SME manufacturers seeking a practical and scalable route into CNC production. The emphasis is not only on affordability, but on building a long-term partnership through structured support and established infrastructure.

Looking beyond the specification
For workshops moving from cut, edge and drill into nested-based manufacturing, the transition represents a significant operational step. Productivity gains are maximised when the technology is seamlessly integrated into existing workflows and supported effectively from day one.
HOLZ-HER places strong emphasis on commissioning and operator training that extends beyond basic machine familiarisation. The objective is to help production teams understand workflow optimisation, nesting strategies and everyday efficiency.
This approach reduces reliance on individual operators and supports a more structured, repeatable production environment from the outset.
Service support is equally critical. Through Weinig’s established UK infrastructure, the Panel Center N is supported by locally based engineers and readily available spare parts. In practical terms, this reduces the risk of downtime and provides reassurance that ongoing technical support is always there.
A machine that evolves with the workshop
A defining characteristic of the Panel Center N range is its fully retrofittable design. Manufacturers are not required to commit to full automation at the outset. Instead, they can adopt a staged investment approach aligned with current workload and cash flow, upgrading progressively as production demands increase.

Classic version – affordable entry point
The Classic version provides a cost-effective entry into CNC nesting while maintaining industrial build quality and precision. For many joinery and cabinet manufacturers, this represents a realistic first step into nested-based production without over-stretching capital budgets.
Push version – productivity without full automation
As production volumes increase, the Push configuration introduces automated offloading designed to reduce interruptions associated with manual unloading and improve spindle utilisation.Once a sheet has been cut, the finished nest is automatically pushed onto a conveyor rather than stopping production for manual removal. While unloading takes place, the next sheet can be prepared or loaded.
By eliminating stop-start interruptions, workshops can achieve measurable productivity gains without committing to a fully automated cell.
Lift version – fully automated nesting cell

For higher-volume environments, the Lift version delivers a fully integrated nesting solution. A forklift delivers the panel pack to the lifting table, where sheets are presented sequentially. A vacuum sheet shifter positions each labelled sheet and gantry-mounted vacuum cups place it precisely onto the machine bed.
An automatic aligner ensures accurate positioning before cutting begins, while finished nests are conveyed out for collection. This continuous, full automation, workflow significantly reduces non-productive time and maximises throughput.
Protecting existing investment
Compatibility with existing tooling and software remains an important consideration for established workshops. The Panel Center N offers a choice of ISO 30 or HSK F 63 tool holders, enabling manufacturers to retain existing tooling inventories where appropriate.A 16-position automatic tool changer supports uninterrupted programme execution, while drilling configurations can be specified to match production requirements.
The machine operates on Windows 11 using the industry-standard Osai control system with the Fusion Control platform. Its open architecture allows integration with existing CAD/CAM systems, helping to avoid proprietary lock-in and protect prior investment.
Engineered for reliable production

At the core of the Panel Center N is a twin servo-driven, heavy-duty gantry designed to deliver consistent accuracy over extended production runs. A vacuum matrix table, supported by a high-performance rotary vane pump, ensures reliable hold-down across a wide range of panel materials.
Rather than introducing unnecessary complexity, the engineering focus is on durability, accessibility and repeatability – qualities that directly support dependable long-term performance in demanding production environments.
A structured route into advanced manufacturing
The Panel Center N represents more than an accessible entry into CNC nesting. It offers astructured pathway into advanced manufacturing, supported by UK-based service, comprehensive operator training, and scalable automation.
In a competitive market where efficiency and reliability are critical to success, the ecosystem surrounding the machine can be just as important as the technical specification itself.
By combining competitive pricing, flexible automation options, and an established UK support network, HOLZ-HER positions the Panel Center N as a long-term manufacturing partner rather than simply another equipment purchase.
