The Wood Recyclers' Association (WRA) is delighted to announce that Mark Hayton, Director of wood recycling company EGGER Timberpak, has been appointed as the new Chair.
Mark takes over from Richard Coulson, who chaired his final members’ meeting and AGM in Bristol on 19 March before handing over the reins.
With extensive knowledge of the waste wood sector, Mark has grown EGGER Timberpak – from a single site in Leeds into one of the UK’s largest users of recycled timber – sourcing waste wood for EGGER UK’s chipboard production sites.
At the meeting, WRA board member Richard Jenkins, CEO of Seras UK, was also appointed as WRA Deputy Chair/Chair in Waiting. In this role, he'll work closely with Mark to guide the WRA’s work.

Additionally, Elizabeth Green of Community Wood Recycling and Oliver Latter from Veolia UK were elected as new WRA Board members.
On this new appointment, Mark said: “It's a privilege to be appointed Chair of the WRA. I look forward to working with my fellow board members to build on the strong foundations laid by my predecessors. With significant industry developments affecting our members, I'm honoured to represent the sector.”
Richard Jenkins added: “I’m delighted to take on the role of Deputy Chair at this pivotal time and look forward to working with Mark to advance the WRA’s important work.”
Julia Turner, Executive Director of the WRA, said: “Mark has been a prominent voice on our board for 11 years, and both he and Richard bring invaluable expertise and leadership. I look forward to working with them to ensure the WRA continues to deliver for its members.”
“I’d also like to welcome Elizabeth Green and Oliver Latter, who bring extensive experience in reuse, recycling, and waste management—great additions to our board.”
“Finally, a huge thank you to Richard Coulson for his unwavering dedication. He's expertly led our Association for four years, and we're pleased he'll remain on our board to continue leading biomass advocacy work.”
