Screwfix’s annual search for the nation’s most talented tradespeople is once again underway. Now in its 16th year, Screwfix Top Tradesperson aims to uncover outstanding trade talent across the UK and Ireland, celebrating dedication, professionalism and commitment to the industry.

London-based plumber Mohammed Rahman claimed the coveted title in 2024, receiving an incredible prize bundle of tech, tools and training worth £20,000. Since being crowned, his business has gone from strength to strength, boosted by the publicity and profile that came with the win.
Reflecting on the positive impact the award has had on his career, reigning champion Mohammed says: “Winning Screwfix Top Tradesperson was a significant milestone for me. I’ve always believed that self-belief is crucial to a rewarding career. It took some courage to nominate myself and fill in the application, but it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
“It’s been amazing to get involved with media interviews and even have the opportunity to speak about supporting trade apprentices in Parliament. I would encourage anyone thinking about entering to go for it – it’s a great opportunity to talk about why you’re passionate about your trade, and if you get shortlisted, the business-building benefits are fantastic.”
Entering is easy
Previous winner, Devon-based carpenter Astrid Arnold, agrees and says the process is simple and straightforward: “It’s quick to enter – just a few questions where I could tell my story and highlight the exciting parts of my career so far. I was also able to talk about areas I’m really passionate about, like encouraging more women to take up a trade.”
Brighton electrician Dan Lloyd, who was crowned Screwfix Top Tradesperson in 2021, believes successful entries come from the heart: “It can be daunting to promote yourself, but the judges are looking for an authentic voice and a compelling story. It’s not just about high standards of work and service, but also how you’re trying to make a difference – whether that’s operating in an environmentally friendly way or giving back to the community.”
How to enter
Entries for Screwfix Top Tradesperson 2025 are now open and will close on Sunday 13 July.
Tradespeople from the UK and Ireland can either nominate themselves or be nominated by an employer, customer, or friend by filling out the online application form at www.screwfix.com/stt or www.screwfix.ie/stt
Standout applicants will be shortlisted for the semi-finals and invited to an interview in August. From there, just 10 finalists will head to Screwfix Live in Farnborough on Friday 26 September, where they will compete in front of a panel of industry experts. The winner will walk away with a £20,000/€20,000 trade bundle of tech, tools and training to help grow their business.
Jack Wallace, Marketing Director at Screwfix, added: “We’re so proud of Screwfix Top Tradesperson and how it highlights the skill and passion of exceptional tradespeople working day in, day out in our homes and businesses. We have a long list of winners in our Hall of Fame, and we can’t wait to see who our 2025 champion will be.
“It’s vital we continue to recognise and celebrate the work of the nation’s tradespeople. They perform essential roles in our communities, create jobs for others and build rewarding careers for themselves. I encourage all tradespeople – from electricians and plumbers to builders, painters, carpenters and roofers – to come forward and share their stories. Good luck!”
