Carhartt brings back its iconic Denim Active Jac

Half a century after it was first zipped up on a job site, the denim Active Jac from Carhartt is back – and it’s every bit as good as the original

The J140 Loose Fit Denim Active Jac (106976) is flannel-lined, hooded and unmistakably Carhartt. It’s the kind of jacket you can wear for a cold shift on site, then straight into the evening without missing a beat. Tough enough for work, comfortable enough to wear when you’re not.

The Active Jac story began in 1975 with the original denim hooded jacket. In the decades that followed, it moved through brown duck, picked up a thermal lining in the late 1980s, and later a buffalo-check flannel interior, with each version retaining the same hood-and-zip formula that made the first one a hit. With the Limited Edition Denim Active Jac, Carhartt now brings that story back to where it began.

This isn’t a straight reissue of the 1975 original, but it draws heavily on that early identity. It’s made from 12.25 oz rigid, no-stretch denim, chosen for its durability and long-lasting performance, and comes in a wash developed to closely match the historic Denim Active Jac. It now features a flannel lining and poly insulation for cold-weather protection, a three-piece hood with an adjustable drawcord, and triple-stitched main seams. The cuffs and waistband are elastane-reinforced for a snugger fit, Wind Fighter™ technology helps cut the chill, and plenty of pockets keep essentials close to hand.

The Active Jac might have been a core part of the range for 50 years, but it hasn’t stood still. The J140 Denim Active Jac has evolved, built in the fabric that started it all but updated to meet the demands of today’s work sites. It’s a tough, dependable jacket for people who put their workwear to the test every day.
