New Duratique designs extend Coastal’s black antique hardware collection

Coastal has added two new pieces to its established Duratique collection, extending its range of black antique door hardware.
These new additions are a five-lever backplate and a distinctive lever handle, which have been developed for traditional entrance doors and heritage-led projects.
Created as a high-performance alternative to iron-based black furniture, Duratique pairs period styling with contemporary material engineering. Each product is manufactured from stainless steel and salt spray tested to Class 5, delivering proven resistance in exposed environments while maintaining its characterful textured black finish.
The new five-lever backplate has been designed to work seamlessly with five-lever mortice sash locks, broadening application possibilities across stable doors and more traditional door sets. It integrates with Coastal’s wider Duratique range, enabling a consistent look across varying lock configurations.
Meanwhile, the Solitaire lever introduces a diamond-inspired profile that echoes classic architectural detailing. Its refined shape brings a more decorative option to the collection, without stepping away from the robust construction that defines Coastal’s Duratique range.
Loren Jenner, Managing Director at Coastal, said: “Much of the black antique hardware available today is produced from malleable iron, which inevitably corrodes and deteriorates. We set out to address that weakness. By manufacturing in stainless steel, we’re able to offer a solution that retains the desired traditional appearance while delivering genuine longevity. These additions give customers greater flexibility while maintaining that core principle.”

Feedback from customers highlighted the need for additional lock compatibility and a more decorative lever option. Both new designs have been developed to the same exacting standards as the existing Duratique products, ensuring consistency in performance across the range.”
Supported by coordinating door furniture – including a letter plate, cylinder pull, door knocker and door knob – the Duratique collection provides a cohesive external hardware solution for joiners, fabricators and installers.
