SCM showcases next-generation batch-one edgebanding solutions
SCM Group will unveil new technologies for the flexible production of panels and doors at its Batch One Days event in Thiene, Italy, on 2–3 December

Following the interest generated by the 2024 and 2025 editions, which showcased industrial flexible edgebanding solutions adopted by leading customers worldwide, SCM is once again putting its advanced technology in the spotlight with an event dedicated to batch-one production of panels and doors.
Taking place on 2–3 December at SCM’s premises in Thiene (Vicenza), Italy, the Batch One Days event will offer a first look at some of the latest-generation systems developed for different manufacturing environments. All share the same objective: to make production more flexible, efficient and responsive to market demands.
The focus will be not only on the performance of individual machines and systems, but also on their ability to integrate into coordinated production flows and support an increasingly digital factory model.
SCM’s new edgebanding and sizing-edgebanding solutions are designed to optimise machining quality, reliability, productivity and customisation, even in demanding processing environments. These benefits are delivered through modular, scalable configurations tailored to each company’s requirements and desired levels of automation and integration.

The solutions also reflect SCM’s strategy of making technologies and functions traditionally associated with higher-end systems accessible to smaller businesses at competitive prices.
“At the event, we will showcase the results of our ongoing research and development efforts, aimed at making SCM edgebanding solutions increasingly flexible, modular and accessible, without compromising on excellence,” says Luca Bergantini, SCM Business Manager. “Our goal is to give companies the best balance between investment and solution value, bringing industrial-grade technologies and functions to production environments of different sizes.”
As Bergantini points out, this approach extends beyond edgebanding to Scm Group’s wider offering for furniture and door manufacturers.
At its Thiene industrial site, SCM will unveil four solutions designed to meet different production requirements: two cells for flexible edgebanding of straight panels, an automated line for door processing, and an edgebander for softforming profiles.
Flexible edgebanding for straight panels
The first solution, the stefani cell h, represents the next step in SCM’s technology for flexible, batch-one edgebanding. With speeds of up to 30 metres per minute and output of up to 1,200 panels per shift, it combines advanced automation and material-handling systems with new machining units.
Key features include a rounding unit designed to increase productivity and improve finishing quality, ensuring consistent results, and Maestro active watch supervisory software, which coordinates the process and panel flow.
The second straight-panel solution, the stefani cell e, combines a single-sided stefani edgebander, configurable on different platforms (stefani m or stefani x), with the new pickback-e gantry return system. The combination is designed to deliver advanced functionality at a competitive investment.
The system automatically manages workpiece return and unloading, offering different stacking modes for panels of varying sizes. It can operate manually or in Batch One mode, using preset automated movements.
This modular solution is intended to make industrial-level automation accessible to medium-sized and smaller businesses, depending on their requirements and the degree of process integration.
Automated processing for doors & partitions
For manufacturers of doors and partition systems, including operable walls, SCM will present an automated solution combining a stefani sb squaring-edgebander with mahros brush systems for loading, workpiece return and unloading.
More than 25 metres long, the system is designed to handle large, heavy panels while delivering a high level of automation and maintaining a focus on finishing quality. An operator monitors the system, while material handling is automated.
The solution incorporates machining units dedicated to door processing, together with devices for finishing corners and profiles to ensure precise results, even on complex, large workpieces.

Flexible processing of softforming profiles
Completing the line-up is the stefani one edgebander, featuring a roller- and belt-based workpiece return system and electronic set-up. It is designed to process a wide range of softforming profiles flexibly, including J-shaped and 45-degree profiles, as well as materials such as melamine-faced panels and PVC.
Automatic set-up simplifies changeovers, while a dedicated rounding unit enables the finishing of J-profiles on the transverse edge of the panel, adding further flexibility and automation.

Digital control & production integration
Digital control and integration are also central to the development of SCM’s edgebanding solutions.
Maestro active watch supervisory software monitors the production process, while WinMES, the MES-MOM system developed with Tecnest, a company within SCM Group, connects production management with wider business information and workflows.
Depending on the configuration, these technologies help create a more connected and traceable process, supporting a digital factory model and integrated production flows.
The objective is to connect edgebanding technology with the wider organisation of production, delivering not just high-performance machines but solutions designed to operate within coordinated, scalable and increasingly automated processes.
SCM’s Batch One Days event takes place at its Thiene premises on 2–3 December, offering manufacturers an opportunity to explore the latest developments in flexible edgebanding and batch-one production.
