TRA opens entries for 2027 Roofscape Design Awards
The Trussed Rafter Association (TRA) has launched the Roofscape Design Awards 2027, celebrating excellence in trussed rafter and metal web joist design. Entries are now officially open

Since their launch in 2023, the awards have gone from strength to strength, with last year’s competition attracting a record number of entries. Entries are now invited for recent trussed rafter and metal web projects via the TRA website. Colleagues can also nominate individuals for the awards’ three individual categories.
There are six categories in total, with three celebrating project excellence and three recognising individual achievement.
The project awards recognise outstanding design in the following categories:
Residential
Conversion and refurbishment
Commercial
Entries may feature trussed rafters, metal web beams and joists, or a combination of the two. Submissions should tell a compelling story, highlighting technical achievement, design quality or professional growth. Examples of previous winning entries are available on the TRA website.
The individual awards recognise the people driving progress within the sector:
Innovation Champion of the Year – recognising leadership in sustainability, technology or operational improvement.
Safety Champion of the Year – celebrating an exceptional commitment to safe working practices.
Career Development Champion of the Year – acknowledging dedication to learning, growth and professional excellence.
This year, each award carries a cash prize of £250.

“The judges always enjoy seeing the range of creative and technically impressive projects our members deliver,” said Nick Boulton, Chief Executive of the TRA. “If you’ve been involved in a great truss project, this is your chance to celebrate that success. I’d encourage all TRA members to take part and to encourage your colleagues to submit entries as well.”
The deadline for entries is 8 January 2027.
