Accoya achieves Cradle to Cradle Certified® Gold under updated sustainability standard

Accoya and Accoya Color are now produced using 100% renewable electricity

Accsys is proud to announce that Accoya and Accoya Color have both achieved Cradle to Cradle Certified® Full Scope at Gold level under Version 5.0. They are among the first building products to achieve Gold certification under the highly rigorous updated standard.

The Cradle to Cradle Certified® Product Standard (Full Scope) is a global standard that verifies whether products are designed with health, circularity and fairness in mind. It assesses materials and products across five sustainability performance categories: Material Health, Product Circularity, Clean Air & Climate Protection, Water & Soil Stewardship, and Social Fairness.

The standard continues to evolve to reflect advances in sustainability best practices and technology. Released in February 2026, Version 5.0 introduces more stringent requirements for renewable energy use, circularity pathways, greenhouse gas reduction, human rights management and water conservation. Cradle to Cradle Certified® products are recognised by several green building schemes, including LEED and BREEAM, for their contribution to healthier buildings.

For architects, specifiers and customers, the certification means that choosing Accoya provides an opportunity to translate sustainability objectives into material choices. With independently verified credentials alongside exceptional durability and dimensional stability, Accoya offers a wood solution that supports both long-term performance and responsible building practices.

Achieving certification required a detailed assessment of raw materials, environmental performance and manufacturing processes across all production sites in Europe and the USA. Robust data collection, technical documentation and independent verification were essential to demonstrating compliance across the standard’s five sustainability categories.

To meet the requirements of Version 5.0, Accoya is now manufactured using 100% renewable electricity*. Alongside continued efforts to improve manufacturing energy efficiency, Accsys has also committed to offsetting 25% of all its Cradle to Gate emissions, including transport emissions, further enhancing the environmental credentials of Accoya wood.
