Centernorma, one of the leading manufacturers of laminated profiles for windows and doors, has significantly increased the efficiency of its production processes at its headquarters in Mislinja, Slovenia, with the help of cantilever racking from OHRA. Raw materials, semi-finished parts and ready-to-ship mouldings are now stored in multiple rows of racks with a total length of over 100m. Compared to the previous block storage system, employees now benefit from direct, fast access to every item. Racking also improves stock visibility and provides more freedom of movement in the workspace. Overall, Centernorma has achieved a notable boost in production efficiency.

Bottleneck block storage
Centernorma produces around 740,000 linear metres of various profiles annually, primarily for international markets. During the upgrade’s initial phase, OHRA installed a 35m long cantilever racking system with a total storage capacity of over 170 tonnes. A second system has since been added, used to store raw materials, semi-finished parts and, in some cases, finished goods.
Previously, these materials were stored using a block storage method – pallets stacked on top of each other – which became a bottleneck as production volumes grew. Accessing individual pallets was cumbersome and time-consuming, and the stacked pallets took up excessive space.
Arm bridges for greater flexibility
With the new racking systems, Centernorma is now able to make better use of the vertical space in its production hall, thereby freeing up valuable floor space. The cantilever racks are approximately 5.5m high and offer up to four storage levels. Each cantilever arm can bear up to 1,050kg. To further enhance flexibility, the cantilever arms are fitted with arm bridges, allowing various types of timber – still stored on pallets – to be positioned flexibly and compactly, regardless of their length.
Increased productivity
Centernorma’s investment in OHRA’s racking systems has quickly paid off. The company now benefits from space savings, easier access to materials, faster production workflows and increased capacity to take on additional orders. Overall, the new storage solution has significantly improved productivity in the manufacture of high-quality laminated profiles.
