In 2025, LIGNA celebrated its 50th anniversary, once again proving why it deserves the title of the world’s leading trade fair for the woodworking and wood processing industry. This year, around 80,000 visitors and 1,400 exhibitors from over 150 countries gathered at the exhibition grounds in Hannover, Germany. Under the motto “Houston, we have a solution”, UNTHA focused its stand on showcasing smart system solutions for residual wood recycling.

The Austrian premium manufacturer of innovative shredders, UNTHA presented its expertise in system solutions and a comprehensive range of consulting and services, alongside its proven RS and LR model series of wood shredders. Countless visitors attended from across Europe, Australia, New Zealand, South America and North America.
“The recycling of residual wood is becoming increasingly important, both economically and ecologically. There’s growing interest in practical system solutions comprising shredders, metal separators and conveyor technology,” says Josef Gruber, Head of Global Sales and Business Development BU Wood at UNTHA. “Our customers are seeking efficient, low-maintenance solutions – and that’s exactly what UNTHA delivers.”

Wood shredders & system solutions
UNTHA has stood for reliable wood shredding for decades. At LIGNA, the company presented its trusted single-shaft wood shredders – LR630, LR700 and LR1400 – along with complementary conveyor technology and metal separators. The 4th generation RS30 four-shaft shredder also made its debut to an expert audience.
These shredders can operate as stand-alone units or be integrated into full processing lines. When shredders, conveyor systems and metal separators are perfectly coordinated, residual wood is processed almost automatically, allowing operators to focus on their core business.
“With our system solutions, we offer customers fully tailored recycling plants for their residual wood, requiring minimal oversight. The wood is fed into the shredder, shredded evenly and any foreign materials are removed through metal separation. The resulting homogeneous raw material is then transported via conveyor to storage rooms or silos, and from there supplied to in-house heating systems for thermal recycling,” Josef explains.

Quality & consulting expertise
UNTHA stands for the highest quality and reliability across all areas – extending beyond the machines themselves to consulting and after-sales services. Customers receive end-to-end support: from initial consultation and planning, through design and installation, to commissioning. Even post-installation, UNTHA remains a reliable partner, offering original wear and spare parts, as well as ongoing service and support. All UNTHA wood shredders come with a three-year worry-free warranty.
